In April
'96 the first 'Storm from the East' was unleashed into the busy world
of drum and bass to confirm the East Coast artists as pioneers of the
cool vibe. Received with great critical acclaim, this album became a
Ferrari F40 in a land of Nissan Sunny compilations, spawning eponymous
tribute club nights in Amsterdam, Munich and Lisbon. Inspired
by this success Moving Shadow boss Rob Playford rode four days on horse
back to reach the humble country dwellings of these musical misfits.
After much bartering with goats and chickens Rob agreed suitable terms
and Storm from the East volume 2 was on its way.
As well
as the distinguished stalwarts still hanging around from the first collection,
two new artists are recruited for this compilation: Universal, responsible
for the huge smash 'Live Session / Groove Therapy' released on Good
Looking Records; and Kudos, a recent signing to Moving Shadow following
their recent dub plate success with the underground DJ's. It hardly
needs saying that the quality of Storm From The East 2 matches its illustrious
forebears in this ground breaking series of regionally based albums:
'Revolutionary Generation' features the Home Counties talent and is
compiled by DJ Pulse 'Storm From The East' focuses on the East Angian
fraternity, while 'Transcentral Connection' homes in on the Midlands
region.
